Buying a car, truck, or SUV can be overwhelming, and it’s a big financial commitment. To help prepare you, we’ve come up with 5 important questions to ask your salesperson before you agree to buy.
1. Can I see the CARFAX?
Every reputable dealership will have no problems providing a CARFAX. You need to learn the car’s history before owning it. CARFAX report will show the history of the vehicle: previous ownership, service records, and any accident information. You don’t want to be facing potential mechanical issues due to previous problems.
2. How many miles are on the car?
Ask to see the odometer reading. Low miles are usually best, but remember low miles don’t necessarily mean the car is in great condition. You can have a vehicle with more miles but be in better condition than a vehicle with less miles. If the car has high miles, make sure to double check all the paperwork to make sure it was properly cared for.
3.What are the safety features of the vehicle?
Don’t overlook the safety features. Getting to your destination safely should always be a priority when purchasing your vehicle. Have your sales associate go over all the safety features of the vehicle so you know it’s the right vehicle for you and your family.
4. Can I test drive the car?
Never buy a vehicle without taking it on a test drive. Make sure there are no major problems, that it performs well on the road, and that it meets your needs. If you are denied a test drive that means there could be some serious problems with the vehicle.
5. What accessories are included?
Don’t be afraid to ask this question. Sometimes the dealer will throw in a new set of tires, trunk liner, or all-season floor mats
